Poverty

Poverty
There are six billion people living on this planet, it so happens that over three billion people make less than $2.50 a day. Is this sheer occurrence, or is poverty a trend that can be broken? I strongly believe that it is very hard to break what you were born into, and live a normal poverty free lifestyle.
Even though there are people who can break the poverty chain, those individuals are few and far in between. The causes of this poor predicament can include laziness, the government, people’s bad decisions, or even civilians inadequacy to change routine. Most people have questions as to why people can’t do something as simple as getting a job, or moving to a better location. What they don’t take into consideration is ,“the poorest people will also have less access to health, education and other services. Problems of hunger, malnutrition and disease afflict the poorest in society. The poorest are also typically marginalized from society and have little representation or voice in public and political debates, making it even harder to escape poverty,” (http://www.globalissues.org/issue/2/causes-of-poverty). In other words it’s a hard cycle to break due to the fact that there are so many objects going against them. Especially in places such as Africa and Central Asia: where the lack of food causes malnutrition, violence, and death. Poverty is something to be reckoned with seriously, as it is a contributor to literally half the planet’s problems.
I believe that a poor infrastructure, government, and economic growth will only keep people in the same poor state they were the day before. According to Jeffrey D. Sachs, people are” seemingly trapped in poverty and prone to internal violence and political collapse,” (http://ww3.millenniumpromise.org/site/DocServer/SCIAM_August19_2007.pdf?docID=1181). Although most of this is due to lack of money and food, a proper education, and the ability to read and write have much to do with this as well. “Nearly a billion people entered the 21st century unable to read a book or sign their names,” (http://www.globalissues.org/issue/2/causes-of-poverty). I also find it sad that,” 10.6 million died in 2003 before they reached the age of 5 (or roughly 29,000 children per day),” (http://www.globalissues.org/issue/2/causes-of-poverty). It was said that in 1970 countries around the world agreed to give .07% of their income annually to development aid. The sad thing is that countries don’t always reach their goal of .07%, the money could be embezzled away, or the funding doesn’t isn’t even given to the poorest of the recipients. Poverty is a depressing object for many of the world’s inhabitants, and it should not be taken lightly.
Whenever you eat a meal, sleep on your warm bed, or look at your lovely house you should be reminded of all the people without these necessities. Poverty is a cycle that can’t be broken, and if it is chances are likely that it took many years to overcome. Be conscious of how lucky you are to live in such a great country, and always be thankful for the simple things in life.

I have not found information anywhere that suggests the poverty cycle can be broken.

The Secret Characters
There is something out there so amazing that it can change your life instantly, so powerful that it can bring you anything you want, and so simple that all you have to do is ask for it. What I am talking about is the secret, which is the law of attraction. It states that all you have to do is ask and believe, and you shall receive. The characters from the movie and the book try to transform your minds so that you may understand the matters in which they discuss. These are truly blessed people who know how to use the secret to their advantage, and with this they have changed millions of lives.
The first and foremost person to discuss in Dr. Michael Bernard Beckwith, who is a person of strong faith, a visionary, and a preacher.  He is the founder of the Agape International Spiritual Center, which preaches love, peace, and a wholly belief and strong faith in God. “That’s why it was named "Agape," which in Greek means unconditional love,” (Michael Beckwith). He has traveled to the East and West to teach universal truth principles, and to bring love into individual’s hearts. Not only is he good at teaching meditation, deep thought process, and scientific prayer, but he is also a very important person. “He serves on international panels with spiritual luminaries such as His Holiness, Dalai Lama, Dr. A. T. Ariyaratne, founder of Sarvodaya, and Arun Gandhi, grandson of Mohandas K. Gandhi.” (www.thesecret.com). He is distinguished worldwide for his deeds, and has many medals and certificates for his accomplishments. “He is the recipient of numerous humanitarian awards, some of which include: The 2004 Africa Peace Award, Thomas Kilgore Prophetic Witness Award, Howard Thurman Stained Glass Window Award by Morehouse College, a commissioned oil portrait for Morehouse’s prestigious Hall of preachers, and the Humanitarian Award of the National Conference for Compassion and Justice,” (http://agapelive.com/). On the movie he has a mellow personality, and you could describe him as a gentle loving person. Coretta Scott King even wrote him saying, “I greatly admire what you are doing to bring about the Beloved Community, which is certainly what my dear husband worked for and ultimately gave his life." Beckwith is also the creator of Life Visioning Process, and he has created books called “Forty Day Mind Fast Soul Feast”, “A Manifesto of Peace”, and “Inspirations of the Heart”. Dr. Beckwith is undoubtedly a great person, and his past and present history are proof of this.
John F. Demartini is also a man of importance featured on The Secret, who is one of the topnotch philosophers today. “Once told he was learning disabled, John Demartini is now a doctor, philosopher, author and international speaker,” (http://www.drdemartini.com/). He has overcome obstacles and objects of all kinds by applying the secret to his life, and now he has something to show for it. Dr. Demartini is literally a world leader in personal development and human behavior, and the Demartini Value Determination and Demartini Method are his trademarked methodologies. John has produced several DVDs and CDs designed to assist people with family, social, spiritual, vocational, mental, physical, education, relationships, and business. Dr. Demartini is a life changer, and long after he is gone his work will still progress the lives of millions of people.
One of the few entrepreneurs who have struck it rich in this world is John Assaraf, who is also an author, business advisor, lecturer, and studier of quantum physics. “In my unwavering quest to overcome challenges and to fulfill my desire to live a purposeful and meaningful life and become a millionaire, I discovered a unique passion for brain research and quantum physics, as they both relate to achieving success in business and life,” (http://www.johnaffaraf.com/).  Just like every other person on this Earth, he had problems, some which could have caused severe punishment. “As a teenager, I lacked personal goal setting skills and risked the consequences of a turbulent lifestyle, one that could have easily led me to jail or the morgue,” (http://www.johnaffaraf.com/). He has personally overcome these struggles, and gone on to create four multi-million dollar companies. These include RE/MAX of Indiana, Bamboo.com, and OneCoach. Dr. Assaraf has even been featured on such shows as The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Larry King, and Anderson Cooper 360. This is a person who values exercise, spirituality, family, cooking, and travel. He isn’t a one minded person who can’t seem to get his priorities straight. John Assaraf contributed heavily to the creation of the film The Secret, and without him I don’t believe the movie could have been created.
From The Secret it is important to understand that these characters are extraordinary people, with a firm mind set and belief that can bring them anything that their heart desires. They have overcome hardships, times of struggle, and immense obstacles to achieve greatness. I personally think John Assaraf’s view on string theory and how the whole universe is connected is very real. And I respect Dr. Beckwith for his sincerity to people, and I honestly believe that his organization with over 10,000 members and 1,000,000 friends worldwide is astounding. And Dr. Demartini’s work is something that even my parents have tried and used successfully. These people, their work, and their accomplishments are all amazing works of art, and they give ever so greatly to the population of our world.
